Vernal Bluet - Agrion vernale??
(Enallagma vernale)

Range/Distribution:

Typical Flight Period: unknown     (records: Aug 24)

We have insufficient data for NB to determine a flight period; however, it has been recorded as early as mid May in Maine

This species was only recently found in NB and there is still very little data for the province.   It was previously considered a subspecies of Northern Bluet (Enallagma annexum formerly Enallagma cyathigerum) and the 2 species can only be identified by carefull examination of the cerci (I believe a microscope is required to see the difference between the shape of the cerci).
